What is handy?

handy is a smartphone for hotel guests to use during their stay to access free calling, texting, and the Internet, as well as travel guides and city maps.

handy Showcase & Ticketing App

2015 was a significant year for Tink Labs as it marked the launch of their flagship product, the handy device in Hong Kong. This launch was followed by the expansion of the handy service to other countries in Asia and Europe in the subsequent years.

I have selected two use cases that I designed to showcase below.

BACKGROUND

As on-demand services continue to grow, hotels and brands are increasingly interested in advertising on these platforms to reach travelers. However, managing these ad campaigns can be tedious and inefficient. Our Ads Pro app seeks to solve these issues by offering an intuitive way for businesses to preview, choose, and monitor ad placements.

MY ROLE

Throughout the entire project, I took on the role of the UX/UI designer, responsible for shaping the app’s visual design and user experience. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, developers, and hotel representatives, I ensured that the app’s interface aligned with the needs and expectations of both hotels and advertisers.

USER RESEARCH

Pain points:

    • Users struggle to find suitable ad placements and lack control over their advertising campaigns, leading to inefficiencies and suboptimal results.
    • The absence of transparency and real-time data on ad performance hinders users’ ability to make informed decisions and optimize their advertising strategies.
    • Limited communication channels with sales representatives or account managers make it challenging for users to address concerns or seek assistance during the ad placement process.
    • Navigating the ad purchase process is confusing, and users have difficulty visualizing how their ads will appear in different locations, limiting their ability to make informed choices.

Solutions:

    • Offer an intuitive ad placement tool for users to explore and preview ad appearances, empowering informed decision-making.
    • Provide a real-time ad performance dashboard with key metrics and analytics, empowering users to monitor campaigns, and optimize decisions based on data.
    • Implement diverse communication channels (phone, email, live chat, messaging) to connect users with sales and support teams, ensuring prompt resolution of inquiries and challenges.
    • Simplify the ad purchase workflow, offering a streamlined and guided experience with tailored recommendations based on user objectives.

Clients can view user activity data for their selected ads daily and weekly.

This allows them to see where the ad performs best in Hong Kong by region. Additionally, the overall performance funnel chart shows how their costs translate into clicks and conversions.

The showcase offers clients an interactive platform to preview their ad placements in various formats and locations on handy. This enables them to evaluate the effectiveness and visual appeal of their advertising content prior to purchase.

The account provides clients with a clear overview of their purchased ad placements, allowing them to easily track and manage their active campaigns. Additionally, users can conveniently access customer service support for any inquiries or assistance they may need.

INTRODUCTIONS

The aim of this app is to develop a ticketing application that is easy to use for travelers and hotel guests. The app will provide a variety of ticketing options to enhance their overall experience while they are staying.

USER RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS

By analysing user feedback and studying our competitors, we recognized a demand for a ticketing application that provides tailored suggestions considering a user’s preferences, location, and past ticketing history.
